I have been in practice since 1978 first as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and later as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. My orientation to therapy is psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and experiential. My work is informed by my understanding of early attachment issues which become a running thread to all important attachments throughout the lifespan as well as family systems.
After receiving a B.A. in English (Adelphi University) and a M.A. in Education (Syracuse Univsersity) I taught high school English for ten years. When I decided to pursue becoming a psychotherapist I received a M.A. in Educational Psychology (Cal State Northridge) and later a PhD (California Graduate Institute now The Chicago Institute of Psychology) in clinical psychology.I I have Certification in Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I am Certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. I have a Certificate of Completion for courses in Attachment Focused - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (AF-EMDR). I am Certified in Discernment Counseling. In order to maintain my clinical effectiveness, I continue to study new research and train in up-to-date interventions.
